The Draftsman’s Case is reminiscent of a time when men carried more traditional briefcases. Our minimalist design takes a modern spin on this utility piece. The internal compartment features a laptop sleeve and two separate smaller pockets for your favorite pens and phone. Made from top grain cow hide, each bag is handcrafted in Queens, New York with saddle stitching finishes at the gussets and handles for additional strength. Edges are hand dyed, waxed and burnished. We used high grade, sand casted brass hardware.

Slightly Alabama sources leather from one of two American tanneries—Horween® (Chicago, IL) and Wickett & Craig (Curwensville, PA). We use bovine hides that are vegetable tanned, chromium tanned or a mixture of tanning methods. Detailed information about the exact leather used is listed on each product page. For more information about our tanneries, read below:
Horween Leather Company was founded in 1905. For more than 100 years and five generations their goal has been to make the world's best leather. Making the best means doing lots of little things right. It means never mistaking fastest or cheapest with the best. It means always using formulas that do not cut corners, and choosing components strictly for their quality.
Horween Leather offers an unparalleled blend of quality, consistency, responsiveness, and innovation. Through the years, they have cultivated their experience to offer dynamic lines of leathers. Their products include traditional, old world tannages and techniques, carefully updated with modern applications. Today, their leathers are still made by hand, the same way as generations ago.
Wickett & Craig
Founded in 1867, Wickett & Craig is a world premiere vegetable tannery. A labor-intensive method that requires skilled workers, veg-tanning is a natural, eco-friendly process that produces durable, exquisite leathers recognized for their depth of color and rich patina. Simply put their leathers not only endure, but get better with age.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, today Wickett & Craig calls Curwensville, Pennsylvania home, making it one of the only specialty vegetable tanneries in the U.S.A.
Located on more than 16 acres of land, their state-of-the-art facility produces 4,500,000 square feet of both light- and heavy-weight leathers annually. The former are used to craft luxury goods, like shoes, bags and belts, while the latter are used to make traditional equestrian gear, including saddles, bridles and straps.
